POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER NEEDED FOR THE PRIMA ORGANIZATION FUNDED PROJECT

A Transformative Innovation Ecosystem for Resilient Water Management through Scalable Nature-Based Solutions in the Mediterranean (NBS360)

Position funded under the YÖK Postdoctoral Researcher Program (Doktora Sonrası Araştırmacı Programı – DOSAP)

INVESTIGATORS: Nadim Copty, İrem Daloğlu Çetinkaya, Cem İskender Aydın, Ali Kerem Saysel (BU Institute of Environmental Sciences)

BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The NBS360 project aims to mainstream Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) to combat intensifying water-related risks like droughts, floods, soil erosion, and pollution in the Mediterranean Region. Recognizing that current NbS deployments are often fragmented and localized, the project introduces a "360-degree" approach that integrates technological, governance, social, and financial innovations into a single coherent framework. At its core, NBS360 leverages an intelligent digital ecosystem to optimize and validate site-specific interventions. This technological backbone is paired with participatory governance strategies, such as stakeholder-driven decision mechanisms, and innovative financial instruments. Ultimately, NBS360 seeks to translate localized demonstration pilots into institutionalized, widely replicable strategies for climate adaptation and water security across the Mediterranean.

We are currently looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the project team through the YÖK DOSAP program. The postdoctoral researcher will take an active role in field work, laboratory analysis, and the coordination and facilitation of living labs at the project's demonstration sites. The position is open to candidates whose expertise and research interests are relevant to the broader scope of the project, spanning the technological, governance, social, and financial dimensions of Nature-Based Solutions for water management.

Researcher qualifications:

  • A recent PhD degree in Environmental Sciences (or in a related field relevant to the scope of the project, e.g. hydrology, water resources engineering, ecology, environmental governance, and similar are also encouraged to apply),
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in field work and/or laboratory analysis,
  • Willingness and ability to coordinate and facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement activities,
  • Excellent reading and writing skills in English,
  • Strong interest and acquaintance with the sustainability problems at the water-food-ecosystems nexus,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

The position is offered under the YÖK Postdoctoral Researcher Program (DOSAP), and its duration and funding terms follow the program's rules. Full information about the DOSAP program is available at: https://projectoffice.bogazici.edu.tr/en/pages/yok-dosap-ek-34/8439

*Important note: Foreign researchers are not eligible for this program.

Applications (CV and a statement of purpose) will be received by irem.daloglu@bogazici.edu.tr with a subject line "NBS360 Postdoctoral Fellow" and evaluated by the research team on a rolling basis. The deadline for application is August 10th, 2026.

Once the applicant is selected, an application will be submitted separately, together with the applicant to the YÖK DOSAP program itself, in accordance with the program's own eligibility criteria and calendar, following the instructions at the link above. This is a separate application process.
